SMART KITCHEN – FUTURE CONNECTED HOME
Are you planning to buy a refrigerator this summer?
Technology is everywhere in our home and we are getting ourselves so immersed in to technology that it has now become a necessity in our lives. We cannot live without technology around us but this is only a start as Smart Homes will be taking over our daily chores.
Previously we looked at the transition from Traditional TV’s to Smart TV’s and how they have transformed over time and how it has impacted us. They have totally changed our perspectives as TV’s can do more and more in this day and age instead of just showing our favourite movies and shows.
It is a given fact that technology exists in every room within our home so in this issue of Desi Australia eMagazine we will be discussing the role of technology in our Kitchen. Kitchen is probably the most used area within our home as we are always cooking meals for our family, and spending cherished moments with our family whilst having our breakfast, lunch and dinner.
When the term Kitchen appliance is mentioned the first thought that comes to our mind is Refrigerator. Where would we be without our Refrigerator? We all probably open and close the refrigerator door every day without even thinking how important that technology is for us. The basic role of a refrigerator is to keep things cold at a certain temperature and nothing else.
So the question now is “What else do we need in our refrigerator apart from cooling and why”?
Let’s look at a scenario when we visit our local grocery supermarket such as Coles and Woolworths. How many times do you think to yourself of these questions?
- Do I have eggs in the fridge?
- Do I have enough milk in the fridge to last the whole week?
- What else do we need to purchase to stock up on?
I am sure this is a common scenario for everyone who does the grocery shopping……Right?
The answer to the question is make your refrigerator smart. Give it the ability to see inside from anywhere and also to keep a tab on what is running out as well as preparing a shopping list. At times it is a very hard task to get a piece of paper and to write out a shopping list although there is a chance that you may misplace the list just before you are about to head out shopping. In this case it would be better to have a screen on a refrigerator which will keep a list of shopping items that you can access from your smart phone.
Welcome to the future of connected kitchen as Samsung has done enough research and collected our requirements and introduced a Smart Refrigerator with all the bells and whistles that we mentioned earlier. It is known as Samsung Family Hub refrigerator. This refrigerator gives you the ability to shop on the spot with in-built Woolworth’s app. You are now able to even order via the app to get the grocery delivered home without even needing to step out of your home.
If you are a type where you need to visit the local grocery store in person then Samsung have even taken care of it by sticking in built in cameras that you can view using your smart phone. The refrigerator can also connect your family with schedules and photos and most of all you can stream music and video directly from the door of your refrigerator. This is very handy when you are looking up a recipe on YouTube but trying to follow it on your tiny smart phone screen. Instead view on this huge screen mounted on the outside of your right hand side door.
Welcome to the Future of Kitchen appliances. Order groceries directly from Woolworths any time using the Woolies shopping App, straight from your Family Hub with unlimited access to recipes through the app, you’ll never have a boring meal again.
Built-in cameras allow you to see what’s inside your refrigerator at any time or anywhere, using just your smartphone, with three cameras clearly showing the shelves inside, it’s easy to see what you have and what you’re missing when you are out and about.
You are also able to find tasty and practical recipes easily. Search 180,000+ recipes with the Recipe App or get suggestions based on ingredients in the fridge. The club des chef’s app lets you find recipes by 3 star Michelin chefs.
Additional features of this fridge is that the Food Reminder helps to reduce waste and ensure that you enjoy food at its best. Enter expiry dates of items stored in the refrigerator, along with their location, and let Family Hub remind you of when food needs to be consumed.
Customise your home screen with wallpapers or add/delete apps and widgets. You can also create profiles for each family member (up to 6) with customised avatars to sync calendars, update memos and to-do lists on your Family Hub.
Never skip a beat with built-in speakers, access music through a range of Entertainment Apps like Spotify and Tune-in Radio while you cook or entertain guests. You are also able to watch you’re free to Air Television on the Refrigerator which has a built-in TV Mirroring. Unfortunately it only works with certain compatible Samsung TV Models announced in 2016 and later.
There are some very advanced features within this refrigerator such as triple cooling technology which uses 3 separate cooling systems to help maintain temperature control and humidity while minimising the mixing of odours. You are also able to convert the fourth door in to a fridge or a freezer so the choice is yours.
I am sure this will at least point our readers in the right direction when you are about to purchase your next refrigerator. There are many more smart appliances entering our market so we will be looking at few when they are announced in Australia to ensure that our readers are up to date with the latest of the product from various vendors. We will also touch upon more technology advancements throughout this year.
